Artificial Intelligence Minor
The minor blends the technical and human-centric aspects of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for non-technical students. The minor is designed to build work readiness in a rapidly emerging technology, assisting students with their post-graduation destinations. Students can expect to learn about the structure of AI, gain proficiency in current tools, explore AI applications, and discuss the societal impact of AI.
The minor will deliver learning outcomes, equipping students for the UNC academic journey and post-graduation destinations:
- Build a strong conceptual grasp of how AI systems operate.
- Select and use appropriate AI tools for a variety of applications.
- Demonstrate proficiency in current tools and build skills to adapt to advancements.
- Critically appraise the output of AI.
- Articulate the benefits and drawbacks of AI across society.
Requirements
In addition to the program requirements listed below, students must:
- take at least nine hours of their minor "core" requirements at UNC–Chapel Hill
- earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.000 in the minor core requirements. Some programs may require higher standards for minor or specific courses.
