Business Administration, A.S.-B.S.B.A.
This is a suggested course plan. It is highly recommended that you meet regularly with your academic advisor to determine your course selection and progress toward graduation.
Students who transfer to UNC under the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) have all lower-level General Education requirements completed, but must complete these requirements through transfer or UNC coursework: Global Language, Research and Discovery, Lifetime Fitness, Communication Beyond Carolina, Campus Life Experience, and, where applicable, Supplemental General Education. Students who do not transfer in under the CAA should work closely with their advisor to determine which requirements apply to them for the IDEAs in Action General Education curriculum.
This catalog also includes a complete list of requirements for the Business Administration B.S.B.A. degree.
Admission to the business school is required. Junior transfer students are encouraged to apply directly to the bachelor of science in business administration when applying to UNC via the Common Application. For more information, visit the transfer information page of our website. This page reflects admissions requirements for students applying during the applications cycles for spring 2024 and fall 2024 entry terms forward (submitted between July 1–September 1, 2023). Students applying to prior application cycles should reference this page in the 2021–2022 or prior archived editions of the catalog.
Kenan–Flagler Business School encourages transfer students to consider a 9th and/or 10th semester to enable them to further spread out the major requirements.

Required in the major.
- 2
Students have the option to complete this in the summer prior to their first term at UNC.
- 3
The major requires a minimum of 5 courses (15 hours of credit) outside Kenan–Flagler Business School and any additional business or nonbusiness courses needed to complete a minimum of 120 credit hours, including transfer credit, to graduate. Students entering under the Articulation Agreement with an A.A. should earn 64 hours of transfer credit from the NC Community College, which can apply toward this minimum. The 12–15 credit hours shown on this pathway represents the remaining hours needed to reach the 120 minimum hours for graduation after completing the major requirements and taking into account the 64 credit hours of transfer credit.
Minors at UNC typically require 15 hours to complete, 9 hours of which must be completed at UNC.
IDEAs in Action requirements not completed through BUSI coursework should be completed using these hours and/or credit transferred from the NC Community College.
- 4
Recommended to be taken within the first two semesters of the program.
- 5
An area core course, with an earned grade of at least a C (not C-), is a prerequisite course for any elective course in that area (e.g., BUSI 406 is a prerequisite for BUSI 501). Other restrictions may apply to certain business courses.
- 6
BUSI 411 must be taken prior to BUSI 412; BUSI 412 must be taken in last 2 semesters.
